Technology customized on-site to meet specific needs has produced a simple, community-building, innovative solution to a problem of subsistence by using local resources. Only the mixer requires electric power and everything else is 'run' mechanically by hand or foot. Working together, the villagers continue to improve the production of biomass briquettes: how work is organized, which auxiliary tools are needed and how they can be improved. The application of academic knowledge can be so simple, enabling a way out and putting a better future within reach. A future that returns energy. Hopefully.

Projekt vznikl z inovačního nápadu vyprovokovat diskuzi o bezdomovectví, jakožto vzrůstajícím problému. Podařilo se uspořádat noční událost, která oživila město, přilákala mnoho zájemců a zároveň propojila jednotlivé aktéry. Stále spíše okrajové téma bylo veřejně prezentováno velmi výrazně a kreativně. K účasti na příští Noci venku se již přihlásila další města. Projekt směřuje k tomu, aby společnost přestala problém bezdomovectví ignorovat, daný inovační přístup eventuelně může podnítit i nezbytná politická řešení. Samotní bezdomovci se projektu účastní a spoluvytvářejí tak obraz o sobě samých.

This is the first project of its kind in Croatia: healthy and affordable food for all who participate, organic farming, conservation and recovery of species diversity, self-organized work on a communal basis, and self-sustaining cooperation in solidarity with one another. The innovative concept has been written about and talked about. Its impact extends far beyond the people directly involved and it has already become a model for other towns and cities. The project is also about resistance to industrialized food production. ‘Miracle Gardens’ demonstrate that a public space can be used productively, opening up possibilities for imagining other community-based initiatives too.

Role models from the same social community show what opportunities there are for self-development. In ‘The Last Shall Be First - Youth for Youth’ programme, such ‘role models’ are available at several levels simultaneously. Far from being divorced from the real world, the project presents entirely achievable possibilities. In this way, the generalized view of the permanent vulnerability of the Roma minority is contradicted in the minds of the minority itself, thereby setting in motion action leading away from the the socially prescribed framework so that social mobility can begin.

‘Dreams of Junk’ is the first social-cultural initiative in Hungary that aims its activities at the ‘lomis', Hungary's informal collectors and collectors of used goods. Together with local young people who live in the neighbourhoods, they produce art in public spaces from (no longer) used items. Shared learning as part of such public activities creates a stable framework for social groups to come closer together that would otherwise not have anything to do with each other. The project also allows for a change of image: the ‘lomis' are collecting future works of art, rather than picking up rubbish – and that´s definitely innovative.

Above all those girls and women who are new to Austria, but also those who went to school here and may have even completed a course of study can be affected, especially in the summer months. Each affected woman should be able to turn to a competent advisor completely anonymously and without fear of being caught. That needs to be possible without great effort and that´s the project´s innovation: thanks to the online platform the inhibition threshold is lowered. It is also important that the girl or woman in question be able to leave the chat quickly, because freedom of movement for affected women as well as those wishing to help them is typically very limited. For that reason the chat needs to be possible from anywhere at any time and needs to be able to be interrupted immediately.

Talking is easier over a meal. That is the simple, in this case innovative idea that lies behind ‘Romani Platni’. The people talking with one another should be Roma and non-Roma people. Delicacies from Roma cuisine stimulate the desire to become better acquainted. If we eat the home-made cooking of Roma women, our perception of the cooks changes and may even do so permanently. It is also the only opportunity to enjoy traditional Roma cuisine in Budapest. Cooking and eating together enhances the status of both sides, because degradation no longer comes quite as easily. We hope the project can expand as a business!

People who know poverty because they have lived in poverty are given a chance to get out of it with this experience and at the same time help others. ‘Poor for the Poor’ recognizes that this 'experience of poverty' is similar to professional experience as a skill and introduces it in a professional context, i.e. as paid expertise, among other measures being used to reduce poverty. Personal experience with poverty is seen as expertise and capitalized as such, to the benefit of the participants and society.

Důležitý je společně strávený čas asistenta a klienta a také opakování setkání v pravidelných intervalech. Základem projektu je podpora specialistů, kteří zaučují asistenty a dohlížejí na průběh tandemů. Mladí lidé trpící schizofrenií získávají vnímavého přítele a rodina soustavnější podporu. Vzniká inovační síť, která poskytuje jistotu začlenění všem zúčastněným.

The interconnected, complex offer provided by ‘despite everything - networked’ is tailored to individual problems faced by socially marginalized families. By combining personal initiative and professional support, opportunities arise for connecting in a 'natural' way with already existing networks. The complexity of the approach and the active participation of children, teenagers, and their families as a whole are very innovative. Being anchored in the community through activities on the local level strengthens the social network and thus contributes to improved social and personal co-existence.
