What is it about?

Every one to two weeks, an employee of the Poika Association (Association for Gender-Sensitive Work with Young Men) and a woman responsible for children's issues offer an afternoon cooking session for the residents of the shelter. These gatherings are intended to help reshape the image of men being prone to violence that is so familiar to these girls, young men and women. They also demonstrate a respectful, equal relationship between men and women while cooking and eating together, and soon also while working together in the garden. A women's refuge offers protection from violent men - ‘wooden spoons’ is designed to include positive male role models.
