What is it about?
A special care model was used in the Rosenberg Nursing Home in Vienna, which is part of the Vienna Board of Senior Citizens’ Residences, to help people who are suffering from dementia. A touch screen computer called Colibri was developed to improve the care of people with dementia. The computer helped to compile biographical images and audio material for individual patients and was used to reactivate the memories of 32 mobile, dementia-affected and disoriented older people. The resulting emotional stability and the decrease in behavioural problems among patients revealed their satisfaction with the programme.
Appreciation of the Jury
The project has now come to an end. In 2007, it was awarded a prize of €1000 by the jury for its “very diligent and respectful approach”.
