Challenge

Children with physical disabilities face limited mobility, hindering their physical and mental development. The lack of movement leads to social isolation and developmental delays. This affects their ability to participate in shared activities and increases their dependence on social assistance in the future. The challenge is to provide these children with an opportunity for active participation and inclusion in society.

Idea

Freedom of movement becomes accessible to children with disabilities through Perpeetuum Mobile's specialized bicycles. People with disabilities manufacture these custom vehicles, which are provided at no cost to recipient families. Once outgrown, bicycles return to the program for recycling and redistribution to new users, creating a sustainable system. Social inclusion, mobility enhancement, and self-confidence development allow these children to participate actively in community life.

Actors

Operational oversight and strategic planning fall under the director's responsibilities, while specialized mechanics apply their expertise to bicycle design and construction. Assistant mechanics provide additional support to the production team. Donor relationships receive dedicated attention from a fundraiser focused on sustaining the program. Racing events and children's activities come to life through volunteer efforts. This organizational structure balances client needs with accessibility and quality considerations.

Impact

Three key innovations distinguish this initiative: bicycle recycling that promotes sustainability while reducing carbon emissions; meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities in design and production roles; and efficiency enhancements through modern 3D printing technology. Beyond improving individual lives, these approaches drive broader social change by demonstrating practical paths toward sustainability, inclusion, and universal mobility.

Transfer

Environmental sustainability merges with social responsibility and targeted support for children with disabilities throughout this multifaceted initiative. Families benefit from reduced financial pressure through free distribution of eco-friendly bicycles. Inclusive employment practices demonstrate the valuable contributions of people with disabilities. Social entrepreneurship finds a compelling example in this widely-recognized model that has attracted 13,000 Facebook followers. Public engagement grows as the project increases visibility while advancing social integration goals.
