Časoris, Slovenia’s children’s newspaper, marks 2025 with its 10th anniversary, a SozialMarie award, and the Global Youth & News Media Gold Prize for innovative youth journalism.

Slovenia's pioneering children's online newspaper Časoris is marking 2025 as a year of exceptional achievement, besides winning a SozialMarie award, also celebrates its 10th anniversary and earning additional international recognition with a prestigious Gold Award from the Global Youth & News Media Prize for Journalism.

Founded in April 2015, Časoris has grown from an innovative response to help children understand complex world events into a respected media platform that empowers young voices across Slovenia. The award-winning publication has spent a decade building media literacy among children and establishing itself as a leader in youth-focused journalism.

The Global Youth & News Media Prize recognized Časoris for its collaboration with pupils from Črni Vrh Primary School, where five students became reporters investigating the future of their community's ski slope threatened by climate change. This mentoring initiative, part of the EU-funded YoCoJoin project, demonstrated how children's voices can address crucial local issues in rural Slovenia where local journalism has declined.

The impact was remarkable: the youth-created article received 150 views from 118 active users, while media trust among participating children soared from 36% to 91%. The international jury praised Časoris for making "the leap from producing news about children to also involving them by teaching them journalism" and called it an effective example of civic journalism that could be replicated globally.

As Časoris enters its second decade, this triple celebration reinforces its position as an innovative force in children's media, combining educational excellence with meaningful community impact.
