Sexual facilitators are allowing men and women with disabilities to experience meaningful erotic, sexual encounters. People with disabilities are thus able to experience their own bodies, their own sexuality in a self-determined, sensual and careful way. Sexual intercourse and oral sex are excluded because of the demarcation with prostitution. 165 sexual facilitations had been sold from the time that ‘Fachstelle.hautnah.’, which is coordinating the project, opened at the end of April 2009 up to the end of the year. The quality of the services of the self-employed sex facilitators is guaranteed, the sexual facilitators are specially trained. A second sexual facilitation course will be offered from October 2010 to March 2011.

Two areas which are still rather taboo, sexuality and disability, are being publicised together: erotic-sexual encounters between one sexual facilitator and a person with disabilities are being offered as a specific professional service. It can be bought and enjoyed. Just like that. This demonstrates in a very simple way that people with disabilities, like all people, have sexual-erotic needs which they want to satisfy.
