Recognized officially in November 2012 by the Board of Education as the 'College of Social Education for Working People', the range of services offered by ModAS is targeted specifically at poverty-stricken or otherwise socially disadvantaged people in order to protect them from precisely that poverty and deprivation. Entry is possible without a school leaving exam, and each of the three courses is a self-contained programme of education that facilitates entry into the workforce. The chances of securing at least a living wage are high. Social work is designed to be more open, more mobile and more mixed.
