University students from migrant families, themselves multi-lingual and of bi-cultural background, show by their own example that people of other linguistic and cultural origin can successfully negotiate Austria’s educational system. The pupils that they assist, who originally came from the same part of the world, thus see that this is possible for them also. Once a week, the presently 27 mentors take part in the primary or secondary school classes of their mentees. They discuss with the teacher what kind of support their mentee presently most needs. In any case, they motivate by setting an example. Beyond their mentee, they also motivate all others involved in the mentee’s school activities: to not give up.
