Miről szól a projekt?
All those involved suffer from the effects of addiction or psychiatric illnesses. Most programmes that offer support forget about family members and therefore the children concerned. The latter are the target group of the free support programme run by the Innsbruck-based project, Taka Taku. The aim is to help children in an exceptional emotional and social situation and to ensure that they grow up as healthy as possible. The children receive information about their parent’s illness in a format that is suitable for their age group and learn new ways of dealing with what is often a very stressful everyday situation. Parents, partners and relatives receive assistance in dealing with the children. The idea is to avoid situations where children are taken into care and to prevent future traumas. The programme is rounded off by the sensitisation of staff in relevant institutions.
