As a primary prophylaxis project, "Child Soul Help" assists children and youths in rural parts of Salzburg province when they suffer from mental or psychosomatic problems and illnesses, since 2011 also in a mobile version, the "Bubble Truck". Demand is high: 5% of children and youths living in Salzburg province are acutely mentally ill, one fifth shows first symptoms. Low-threshold access even in the remotest areas makes help for children and youths who react "foolishly" to their living conditions, as we might say, socially acceptable. For the time being, the multi-professional team works on the basis of donations, negotiations with the province of Salzburg are ongoing.

The innovation of "Child Soul Help" successfully acts on a double social problem. First of all child mental illnesses – that are still largely taboo or too little addressed in public and also within the medical apparatus. And secondly the enormous discrepancy between the centre (the city of Salzburg) and the rural parts of Salzburg province. Success is most visible: (mobile) clinics in the different parts of the province, more than 11,000 therapeutic and counselling units since inception. Celebrity support and inter-disciplinary cooperation inspire courage that the objective of further development and a publicly supported extension to other provinces will succeed.
