Welcome to Life

“Welcome to Life” wants young adults who have grown up in youth welfare institutions to have sufficient time for the crossover into adult life. Like those who have grown up with their families. Innovatively constructed interventions make this possible: proactive assistance for the care leavers by people they trust, attachment figures, is individually arranged and combined with peer support; as a complement, the help of mentors can be resorted to; and there is lobbying on the political plane so as to obtain an official mandate and to reform the law. Wherever possible, social inheritance needs to be interrupted. Should such young adults break down, then all the former investment in their welfare comes to nothing.
